Next Steps

Next Steps After Your Assessment

Assessment
2Investigation
3Approved or Denied
4Disputes & Result
Step 2

Investigation

We investigate the circumstances behind each listing on your credit file, identifying potential breaches of the Privacy Act or non-compliance with the Credit Reporting Code. This is completed with you over the phone through 40+ simple yes, no, or unsure questions, along with your personal circumstances at the time.

Step 3

Approved or Denied

If our investigation identifies multiple potential breaches, you may be approved for our credit restoration services. If not, your application will be declined, and your consultant will explain why, providing complete clarity.
Note: Approval does not guarantee the removal of any listing.

Step 4

Disputes & Result

Formal removal requests are lodged with Equifax, Experian, and relevant credit providers, with escalation to AFCA, the OAIC, courts, or other bodies where required.
If a breach is confirmed, listings may be removed, in most cases boosting your credit score and helping future finance applications.

Step One

The credit file assessment

Everything starts with your credit files. We obtain both your Equifax and Experian files as your access seeker, audit them before your call, and walk you through every listing line by line so you understand exactly where you stand.

What you get

What You Get — The Credit File Assessment▶ What You Get — The Credit File Assessment

A one-off fee of $39.95 covers the two files and the assessment call with an Australian specialist. You will know what is on your file, which listings are affecting you, and — where it applies — whether there is enough there to investigate further. Many people stop here, better informed, and that is a good outcome.

Every question answered

The call is yours. Most people arrive with years of half-truths about credit files, and we take the time to straighten them out, so you leave understanding your file as well as a lender does.

What we explain on the call

The difference between a debt, a default, a court judgement and an enquiryHow repayment history works, month by month, and how long it staysWhat each section of your credit file means, from accounts to court recordsWhy Equifax and Experian can hold different information about youWhat moves your credit score up and down, and what does not touch it

Myths we hear every week

“Paying a default removes it.” It does not. It is marked as paid and stays“Checking my own file hurts my score.” It does not. Only credit applications are recorded as enquiries“There is a blacklist.” There is not. There is a credit file, and it has rules“Closing an account wipes its history.” The history stays for its full term“Asking for hardship puts a default on my file.” Hardship is not a default

These are only very limited examples.

Step Two

The investigation

If there are listings worth looking at, we investigate the circumstances behind each one with you over the phone — a structured set of simple yes, no or unsure questions, together with what was going on for you at the time and any notices or correspondence you still have.

What the investigation is built on

Inside the Investigation▶ Inside the Investigation

Our investigation is built on the legislation that governs credit reporting in Australia: the Privacy Act 1988 and its credit reporting provisions, the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code, the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 and the National Credit Code within it, the ASIC Act 2001 and the Australian Consumer Law. Each of them places obligations on credit providers and credit reporting bodies before, during and after a listing is made — and each of those obligations is something we check.

The questions we ask are mapped to specific obligations in that legislation. Your answers, and the documents you still hold, tell us which obligations may not have been met for each listing — on the provider’s side, on the bureau’s side, or both. The law gives you separate rights against each of them, and each has its own duty to investigate a request and to substantiate the listing if it refuses.

We only take a matter on where the investigation identifies multiple potential breaches. One possible issue is not enough. We look for several independent grounds before we recommend proceeding, because that is what gives a dispute weight with a provider, a bureau or an external dispute scheme. If the investigation does not find them, we decline, and your consultant explains why.

The result is a written investigation record for every listing we take on. That record is the foundation of each correction request we lodge, and it is reviewed before anything is sent.

Steps Three & Four

Approved or declined — then the disputes

If the investigation identifies multiple potential issues, you may be approved for our credit restoration service. If not, we decline, and your consultant explains why so you have complete clarity.

What happens next

Where Disputes Go▶ Where Disputes Go

Approved matters move to formal removal requests with the credit reporting bodies and the credit providers, with escalation to the relevant external dispute scheme, the OAIC, or the courts where required. A bureau or provider response typically takes weeks; matters that go to an ombudsman can take months. Approval does not guarantee the removal of any listing — but where a breach is confirmed, listings may be removed, and in most cases that lifts your score and helps future finance applications.
