If you’re searching “fix my credit”, something has probably already gone wrong. A loan knocked back. Car finance quoted at a rate that made no sense. A broker who went quiet after pulling your file. It’s a rotten feeling, and the industry that springs up around that feeling is full of people promising to wipe your file clean overnight. They can’t. Nobody can.
Here’s the honest version: fixing your credit is real, it works, and it follows rules. This page explains what those rules allow, what they don’t, and how we approach it.
What “fixing your credit” actually means
A credit file can’t be scrubbed on demand. It can be corrected. In practice, fixing your credit comes down to three things:
- Remove what’s wrongly listed. Defaults, judgements and enquiries can only stay on your file if they were listed accurately, fairly and in line with the credit reporting rules. Where a listing is inaccurate, out of date, or was made in breach of those rules, it can be challenged and pursued for removal.
- Correct your repayment history. Your file carries two years of month-by-month repayment history on your credit accounts. Where that history has been reported incorrectly, it can be corrected — in genuine cases we’ve had repayment history corrected to 0, meaning on time. Correcting it is a real service we provide; it’s correction, not deletion.
- Let the rest age out. Listings that were made correctly expire on schedule — defaults, judgements and enquiries after five years, serious credit infringements after seven, repayment history after two. Nothing lawful removes an accurate listing early, and once you know the expiry dates you can plan around them.
That’s the whole game. Anyone selling a fourth option is selling you something that doesn’t exist.
Step one: see what’s actually on your file
Most people who feel like their credit is wrecked have never read their own file. Some are carrying listings they don’t know about; others are avoiding a file that’s in better shape than they fear.
So we start with the file itself. For $39.95 we obtain your credit file as an access seeker — which means no enquiry is recorded on your file — and go through every listing with you. We hold direct membership with all three credit reporting bodies, Equifax, Experian and illion, so we’re checking everything a lender can see, not just one bureau’s version. Then we tell you plainly what can be challenged, what can’t, and what we’d charge to act. If there’s nothing we can help with, we say that too.

What can come off a file
More than most people expect. Take defaults: before a creditor can list one, the debt must be at least $150, more than 60 days overdue, and the required written notices must have been sent first. In our experience reviewing files, listings fail these tests more often than you’d think — notices sent to old addresses, wrong amounts, debts listed twice by a creditor and again by a debt collector. Our default removal page covers the rules in detail, and judgement removal covers court judgements. Enquiries you never authorised can be challenged too, and they’re often the easiest wins on a file.
To be clear, because the law requires it and because it’s true: no one can guarantee the removal of a correctly made listing. What we do is investigate whether each listing was made lawfully and, where grounds exist, pursue its removal with the creditor and the credit reporting bodies. Before we close a matter, we verify the outcome against a fresh copy of your credit file — we don’t call it done until the file says it’s done.
What we don’t touch
We work on defaults, judgements, enquiries, serious credit infringements and repayment history. We don’t work on bankruptcies or Part 9 debt agreements — those are recorded under a different system and aren’t something a credit repair service can remove. We’re not a lender, not a broker and not lawyers, and we don’t invent disputes for debts that are genuinely yours and correctly listed.
Picking the best company to fix your credit
If you’re comparing providers, a short checklist saves a lot of grief:
- Licensing. Providing debt management services in Australia requires an Australian Credit Licence. Credit Clean Australia holds Australian Credit Licence 531718 and is a member of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (Member 81727).
- Assessment before fees. A serious provider looks at your file before quoting. Anyone who quotes full service fees before seeing your file is guessing with your money.
- No guarantees. A company that promises to remove any listing regardless of the facts is misleading you. Walk away.
- Verified outcomes. Ask how they confirm a removal happened. We check the fresh file. Many don’t.
For the wider picture on how the dispute process works, our credit repair page walks through it step by step, and our guides cover the common questions in depth.
Start with the assessment
You’ll know exactly where you stand for $39.95 — every listing across all three bureaus, what has grounds for challenge, what doesn’t, and what it would cost to act. No lock-in, no ongoing fees.

Frequently asked questions
Can my credit really be fixed?
If your file carries listings that are inaccurate, unfair or were made in breach of the reporting rules — yes, those can be challenged and pursued for removal. If everything on your file is accurate and lawfully listed, no honest company can remove it early, and we’ll tell you that at the assessment rather than take your money.
How long does fixing my credit take?
Creditors and credit reporting bodies are generally required to respond to disputes within set timeframes, typically 30 days. Some straightforward disputes resolve within that response window; more complex matters take longer, particularly where we escalate to an ombudsman. You’ll get honest timeframes at the assessment.
Will fixing my credit score get me approved for a loan?
We can’t promise lending outcomes — we’re not a lender or a broker, and approval always sits with the lender. What removing wrongful listings does is put an accurate file in front of them. Many lenders treat defaults and judgements as red flags, so a cleaner file can materially change the conversation.
Can I fix my credit myself?
You can — the bureaus must accept disputes directly from you. What we add is detailed knowledge of the listing rules, what creditors must be able to prove, which arguments succeed, and the persistence to escalate when a first request gets fobbed off.
